Join with us as we gather in a genuinely intergenerational event to prayerfully seek to build the future of Australasian Anglicanism, and humbly reflect upon how Jesus is building his church.
Our all-age, all-stage gatherings will give us a taste of the future of Anglican ministry and will focus on the promise and fulfilment of Christ as he builds his church, and includes us in his future plans.
The Anglican Church globally is at a crossroads. The church needs renewal and reformation, and we need to move beyond division and confusion. What should the future look like?
The Bible needs to be at the heart of every Anglican church. If you share that conviction, you are not alone! Join with hundreds of other like-minded Anglicans from across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific who understand the need to hold firm to the Bible as the heart of our faith.
Many of us are in places where the pressure to compromise is high, fellowship is hard to find, and speaking the truth is costly.
Under God the Anglican Church has a bright future: God is doing great things among us!! It’s time to pave the way for a new generation of leaders who are confident, passionate, and unwavering in their belief that God’s word is good, clear, and powerful.
This is why we’ve created a conference for all ages and stages, where children and youth can gather in specially-designed, intergenerational services, as well as participate in a unique, ‘Future Leaders’ program — and for all under-18’s, the registration is free!
Join us at Riverlife Baptist Church, Brisbane, for a conference that’s not just about reform —it’s about building a movement that renews the church and its witness.
Our all-age, all-stage gatherings will give us a taste of the future of Anglican ministry, and will focus on the promise and fulfilment of Christ as he builds his church, and includes us in his future plans.
The opening session of our conference, an all-age, all-stage gathering filled with great singing, intergenerational liturgy and prayer, and the first of four Bible talks by Mike Dicker. He will help us understand Exodus 19, its fulfilment in Christ, and its place in our future. We will end our time in prayer groups that will help unite us in our dependence on God.
Take a break together, enjoying tasty afternoon tea (included) and the opportunity to meet friends, old and new, from around Australasia.
Before we hear from Mark, we will gather to understand the common mission of the conference, as we seek to develop a prayer that captures an authentic understanding of Anglican ministry in our context. In his first lecture, Mark Earngey will unpack the teaching of the Anglican formularies about building ‘up’—how we are to rightly understand maturity and discipleship in the life of our church and faith.
Future Leaders (Under 18’s Program): One
Children and youth will head out to the first of their ‘Future Leaders’ sessions, where our trained and experienced leaders engage and equip our under 18’s for joyful ministry in the Anglican church.
Enjoy a delicious buffet dinner (included) and enjoy eating and talking with friends from all ages and stages.
A night of praise and prayer, as we reflect upon the ministry of Gafcon in Australia, and the impact upon the lives of Anglicans throughout the country. A Gafcon bishop will encourage from God’s word. An all-age and stage event to unite us under God, as we partner in future mission together.
The second morning session, an all-age, all-stage gathering filled with great singing, intergenerational liturgy, and prayer, will include the second of four Bible talks by Mike Dicker. His talk will help us understand 2 Samuel 7, its fulfilment in Christ, and its place in our future. We will end our time in prayer groups that will help unite us in our dependence on God.
Take a break together, enjoying tasty morning tea (included) and the opportunity to build our friendships and create new friends from around Australasia.
In his second lecture, Mark Earngey will unpack the teaching of the Anglican formularies about building ‘out’ — how we are to understand the right way to see mission and evangelism in the life of our church and faith.
Future Leaders (Under 18’s Program): Two
Children and youth will join for the second ‘Future Leaders’ sessions, where our trained and experienced leaders engage and equip our under-18’s for joyful ministry in the Anglican church.
Enjoy a delicious lunch (included) as you meet and eat with friends, as you informally reflect on all you’ve been learning.
Gather in your elective ministry stream for the first of three collaborative sessions, where you will prepare a component of ‘The Brisbane Prayer,’ our corporate response to God and our common request to him for the future of the church. In our first session, each elective stream will hear a co-authored paper by thought leaders who will challenge the group to better understand the Anglican shape of the specific area of ministry we select. This first session will include time for questions and answers.
Future Leaders (Under 18’s Program): Three
Children and youth will continue their ‘Future Leaders’ sessions, as they meet to be encouraged and stretched in their Christian life and service.
Take a break together, enjoying tasty afternoon tea (included) and continue fellowship with friends from around Australasia.
Having heard from the thought leaders in our elected ministry stream, we’ll now gather in smaller groups to review the material and seek to identify a number of key prayer points before coming together for a facilitated time to gather the thoughts and points from each group, and to identify a number of prayer points to represent the thinking of the Conference.
Future Leaders (Under 18’s Program): Four
Children and youth have their fourth ‘Future Leaders’ session, as they meet with their leaders for some recreation and reflection.
Enjoy a delicious buffet dinner (included) and enjoy eating and fellowship with all your friends.
A night of praise and prayer, as we reflect upon the ministry of Gafcon in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, and the impact upon the lives of Anglicans throughout the region. A Gafcon bishop will encourage from God’s word. An all-age and stage event to unite us under God, as we partner in future mission together.
The third morning session of our conference, an all-age, all-stage gathering filled with great singing, intergenerational liturgy, and prayer, and the third Bible talk by Mike Dicker. He will help us understand Psalm 127, its fulfilment in Christ, and its place in our future. We will end our time in pre-arranged prayer groups that will help us in our dependence on God.
Take a break together, enjoying tasty morning tea (included) and the opportunity to enjoy our friendships from around Australasia.
In this final ministry stream session, we’ll get together to hear the draft of the prayer that has been developed by representatives of the group. In response we will discuss this proposed prayer and offer final reflections on how to refine this statement of our requests to God. We will then meet in small groups for an extended time of prayer.
Future Leaders: Five
This is the final session for our youth and children, as the fifth ‘Future Leaders’ gathering brings together the young people to reflect and encourage each other, and to finalise the preparation of their involvement in the last session of the conference, tomorrow.
Enjoy a delicious lunch (included) as you enjoy eating and reflecting on all you’ve been learning.
All of us are invited to hop on a bus for a 10-minute trip to the nearby Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary (bus and entrance fees included.) Experience Australia’s first and oldest koala sanctuary, as well as many other furry animals and birds. A great opportunity to enjoy some relaxation together as we enjoy God’s creation.
Enjoy our last buffet dinner together (included).
A night of praise and prayer, as we reflect upon the ministry of Gafcon around the world, and the impact upon the lives of Anglicans everywhere. A Gafcon bishop will encourage from God’s word. An all-age and stage event to unite us under God, as we partner in future mission together.
The final morning session of our conference, an all-age, all-stage gathering filled with great singing, intergenerational liturgy and prayer, and the fourth Bible talk by Mike Dicker. He will help us understand Ezekiel 36, its fulfilment in Christ, and its place in our future. We will end our time in pre-arranged prayer groups that will help us in our dependence on God.
Take a break together, enjoying tasty morning tea (included).
All ages and stages return to the main auditorium, as representatives of each of the elected ministry streams share some brief reflections of their group’s journey, then read to the whole gathering the prayer that the stream has written as their part of The Brisbane Prayer.
After we’ve prayed the whole prayer, together, we’ll head outside for a giant group photo, to capture this special moment in the history of our church.
Enjoy a delicious lunch (included). It’s our final meal together and time to connect with all within the fellowship.
For our final session, we’ll bring together all ages and stages, not only in the room but also on the stage, as our children and youth join with adults to lead music, prayer, liturgy, including sharing and reflection on the conference. We’ll gather to hear a word of encouragement from the scriptures from a Gafcon leader. Then we’ll draw our time together to a close as we celebrate the Lord’s Supper, together, for the Glory of God.
Our venue for the conference is Riverlife Baptist Church, which is located 11km South-west of the Brisbane CBD in Seventeen Mile Rocks, Brisbane. The Riverlife facility sits on five hectares of land with two acres under roof, and the main auditorium seats over 1500 people, and the venue offers several halls, a youth sports hall, kid’s rooms, as well as a range of meeting rooms and lounges.

Mike is the Principal of Youthworks College where he trains people for Anglican youth, children’s, and family ministry. Since the Kigali conference he has been working with several African dioceses to help develop intergenerational and youth-specific ministries and training. Mike will be preaching to us from four foundational Old Testament passages that demonstrate how God’s purposes of building are fulfilled in Christ’s promise to build his church. He will help us better understand our place in God’s cosmic plans.
